Santa Barbara
We have a early morning flight out of Santa Barbara. What if the parking lot is full? Should we leave early enough to have time to park in the overflow lot? But we've never heard of anyone needing to park in the overflow lot in Santa Barbara, so we decide to take our chances, and allow our 'normal' time for getting through the parking and airport process, and it all works out fine.

Phoenix
A quick stop over in Phoenix, and already I'm finding my backpack to be unbearably heavy. Why do I do this to myself? A small camera (SO glad I'm not lugging my heavy DSLR) with 2 lenses, a drone and its controller with an extra battery, and a laptop. Oh yes, and over-the-ear headphones.
Boston
Boston is a nightmare. Not always - just our arrival. Otherwise, I love Boston.
First of all, neither of us have ever rented a car in Boston before. Once we figure out that we need blue bus #22 or #55, we wait patiently. #22 comes along and we pile in. Traffic is horrendous (mind you, we're still on airport property). A frequent traveler mentioned that this bus stops at the train station before going to the rental car center.
We arrive at the train center, and some people get out. The driver never mentions where we are, but eventually tells everyone to get out of the bus - that we have to switch to another bus because his is being taken out of commission. A bus change at the train center... ok.
We finally make it to the rental car center. There's a HUGE Disneyland-like line, maybe 200 people! (Sorry, no photo.) So of course I ask someone what they're in line for: the bus to take them to the airport terminal. Yikes, I bet a lot of people missed their flight that day...
The National rental counter looked unmanned, so we follow the sign up to the rental car level, only to be told we have to go back down to the counter to check in. Remember, I'm shlepping that really heavy backpack while I'm getting in my steps, and I'm seriously regretting bringing my drone (and my headphones - sorry, Sxxxs).
Eventually, it's time to pick out our vehicle. I love National's Emerald Club, because I have choice. We decide to take a Toyota 4Runner - familiar, but different. An hour and a half after exiting the airport doors, we finally make it off airport property.
